Rivals warn against outdooring of ‘Gbese Chief’

A group calling itself the Kingmakers of the Gbese Stool, a division of the Ga State is cautioning against a planned installation of a new chief for the people of Gbese on Friday by a rival faction.

The rival faction intends to outdoor one Bill Annan as the new chief but Kingmakers say such an action will be in contempt of a court order issued on February 17, 2003.

The Kingmakers have also cautioned all those invited for the ceremony to stay away in order not to condone an illegality.

Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, spokesman for the Kingmakers also justifies their objection to the planned outdooring by a ruling of the Judicial Committee of the Ga Traditional Council which mandated Nii Tetteh Ahinakwa to take custody of all stool regalia and to supervise the installation of a new Gbese chief.
