2024 election: Don’t be scared; we're ready to maintain law and order – Dampare assure Ghanaians

The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has assured that the service is ready to work to maintain law and order in the country before, during, and after the 2024 General Election.

The IGP gave the assurance when he paid a special visit to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Accra New Town Congregation to join in the celebration of the 70th Birthday Thanksgiving Service of the Minister in Charge, Rev. Michael Gabriel Anim-Tetey.

In his remarks, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare indicated that nobody should live in fear because Ghana is in an election year.

He said by the grace of God, the country will continue to be peaceful.

“This year is an election year and people normally harbour fears of what will happen during this period. I want to assure you all that God will continue to protect this nation. The security services stand in readiness to maintain law and order. Let us also do our part to protect this country,” Dr. George Akuffo Dampare said.

In a sermon to mark the 70th Birthday Thanksgiving Service of Rev. Michael Gabriel Anim-Tetey, Ghanaians were implored to jealously guard the peace of Ghana for a peaceful general election.

Ghanaian electorates will go to the polls on December 7 to elect new Members of Parliament and a President for the next four years.
