Ophelia Hayfron Mensah organises party for over 700 widows at Kormantse to climax Easter

Ophelia Mensah Hayford, the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region, marked the Easter season by supporting over 700 widows in the constituency with clothing, food, and beverages.

This initiative, held on April 1, 2024, at Kormantse, not only celebrated Easter but also aimed to aid the elderly, complementing the Government’s Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) Programme.

As Christians worldwide observed Easter with various activities, the challenging economic conditions in Ghana have intensified the struggles of the less privileged, who often rely on philanthropic aid, exemplified by MP Ophelia Mensah Hayford. This annual event, which brings together widows for festivities, serves as a token of love and appreciation for those in need.

The delighted widows, treated to food, drinks, and traditional music, were presented with clothing, fostering unity and reassurance that they are cared for. MP Ophelia Hayford Mensah emphasized the significance of Easter as a time for compassion and outreach, expressing her commitment to supporting the underprivileged in her constituency through various initiatives.

While some widows benefit from the Government's poverty alleviation program, LEAP, MP Ophelia advocates for further assistance to improve the lives of vulnerable individuals in society. Additionally, she facilitated the registration of new widows onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for free during the event.

The grateful beneficiaries lauded their MP's generosity and prayed for her continued blessings and strength to continue her benevolent work in the years ahead.
