Assin North by-election: NDC is going about saying government removed Gyakye over LGBTQI+ — Owusu Bempah

Owusu Bempah, Deputy National Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party has alleged that the National Democratic Congress is desperate to win the Assin North by-election with propaganda.

The deputy Communications Director claims the NDC is engaging in lies and deceit regarding the Supreme Court annulment of James Gyakye Quayson election as Member of Parliament for Assin North.

He said the NDC is going about claiming Mr Gyakye Quayson was removed from Parliament by the NPP government for advocating for LGBTQI+.

Speaking to Roland Walker on TV3 Morning show on June 8, he stated “ that they are saying a lot of things within the constituency that are not true, that I told you about the propaganda, lies that they are throwing out there Gyakye Quayson was thrown out of Parliament because he was an advocate for LGBTQ, it's on the ground, that is what the NDC is saying, that is what Sammy Gyamfi and his cohort are saying to his people. I have a voice, I can play it to you, a lady that is supposed to be an NDC activist sitting on radio, telling the entire people in Assin North that Gyakye Quayson was kicked out of parliament because he is an advocate for LGBTQ and that Nana Akufo-Addo has taken money and that they want to kick him out, can you imagine this kind of recklessness, a political party that was given the mandate,” Owusu Bempah stated.

However, Owusu Bempah emphasized that there are still ongoing development projects being spearheaded by the NPP in Assin North.
