Kasoa Houseowners Refuse Compensation

The final phase of the Mallam-Kasoa highway project is being delayed because of the refusal of 12 house owners at Kasoa to collect the final instalment of their compensation for their buildings affected by the project.
They are said to have already collected the first instalment leaving a total balance of ¢1.4 billion which they are reluctant to collect for fear that their buildings will be demolished as soon as they take the money. The amount ranges between ¢40,976,000 and ¢323,900,00.
Mr. Solomon Kwashie Abbam-Qyaye, the District Chief Executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, made this known' to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Winneba on Wednesday. He appealed to the landlords to go for the money immediately as the Ghana Highways Authority in collaboration with the assembly will soon embark on the final demolishing exercise and use the part of their compensations to pay for the cost of the exercise.
