Zebilla NDC Primaries: Parliament is not a business centre; you need a brain, not a pocket – Lawyer Maxwell Agbambilla

Mr Maxwell Ziyerley Agbambilla, Parliamentary Candidate hopeful for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Zebilla Constituency says party delegates in the constituency should not be cajoled with money in making their voting decisions in the party’s parliamentary primaries scheduled for May 13 , 2023.

The legal practitioner made public his intention to contest the party’s parliamentary primaries after the eight-time parliamentary candidate and current Member of Parliament Mr Cletus Avoka made known his decision not to contest the seat again.

Speaking to the media at his residence in Zebilla, Lawyer Agbambilla says delegates of the party should choose a leader capable of uniting the party and leading them to victory in the upcoming general elections rather than voting based on a person’s place of origin, age, financial status or who the person’s father is.

“I want them [delegates] to consider that Zebilla needs a new begging, those of us who will be throwing ourselves at them are like seeds that need to be planted in the new season so I invite them to look at the seed that they think if it’s planted can grow up to be a tree that will bear fruits that they can eat from it and will have a shade that all of us can sit under it, with all humility I think that I am that seed. Secondly, I think that they [delegates] should be mindful of what the issues are and what they should consider in this election," he noted.

Lawyer Agbambilla continues, "It is not about where you come from, it is not about who our fathers or mothers are, I see people who ask me if I am Agbambilla’s son, I say yes and they say my father was a great man, he did good things for us, of course, a good name is good but it’s not about my father because my father is not the one who is going to parliament to debate, research and put Zebilla on the map, it’s me so the consideration should be about me. Again it’s not about how much money you have in your pocket, we don’t use money as the basis to represent the people because parliament is not a business centre you don’t go to make money, you go to prone government policies in a manner that will benefit the people and for that, you need a brain, not a pocket.”

The Senior Associate at Adu-Kusi Law firm who is running his campaign on the mantra ‘The New Beginning’ says his leadership as the parliamentary candidate will usher in a new beginning in the Zebilla Constituency where he will prioritise the educational needs of constituents and continue to build on the solid foundation laid by Mr Cletus Avoka in other sectors, including; agriculture, entrepreneurship, rural electrification and physical infrastructure.

He eulogised the outgoing lawyer maker describing him as the most successful politician from the Kusaug area of the Upper East Region and called for a monumental gesture to be done in his honour.
