Let’s avoid violence, anything that will tarnish image of NPP – Chairman Wontumi to delegates

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi has admonished delegates voting in the party’s Regional Executives Conference to eschew any thirst for violence.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman who is facing tough competition to hold onto his position said this while addressing people at the Conference held on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Chairman Wontumi said it is important that delegates and all party members show together throughout the ongoing election to protect the name of the party.

“When parliamentarians went berserk, the disgrace was foisted on the institution of parliament. In the same way, even if one or two persons misbehave and cause violence here, it tarnishes the image of the party in the region.

“The NPP is greater than everyone and we must ensure that our individual interests do not override the party’s agenda,” Chairman Wontumi said at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium where the Ashanti Regional Conference is being held.

In today’s election, Chairman Wontumi is being given close marking by Odeneho Kwaku Appiah.

Both candidates are confident of victory at the end of the conference.

Meanwhile, similar conferences of the NPP Regional Elections are being held in other regions today.

The process is part of a restructuring by the ruling government as they prepare for the 2024 general elections.
