Sunyani Technical University to manufacture electric cars by 2024

The Public Relations Officer of Sunyani Technical University, Mr. Dickson Kyere-Duah has disclosed to Suncity Radio the intentions of the University to manufacture electric vehicles by 2024.

In an exclusive interview with Fafali Margaret on Suncity Morning Drive on Thursday, he explained that in pursuance of the University’s niche area of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, the University in collaboration with some German institutions is on course to unveil the first electric vehicle produced in Ghana.

He said the recent commissioning of the ultra-modern Mechatronics and Amatrol laboratory is part of preparatory works to achieve the ultimate.

He said the University is positioning itself to be recognized as the best Technical University in the country with the introduction of new Btech programs aimed at helping solve myriad challenges of the 21st century.

On measures the University has put in place to prevent Covid-19 ahead of the arrival of anticipated seven thousand (7000) students, Mr. Kyere-Duah elaborated the extensive Covid-19 protocols the University has put in place to ensure strict compliance by staff, students, and visitors.

He said Management will not relent on its commitment to ensuring that students stay safe in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On his part, Professor Solomon Barima Korankye, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University, encouraged students, especially the females with financial constraints to take advantage of the Students support fund instituted by the University to support the needy.
