Akatsi South: NPP candidate ignores NCCE debate

Mr Leo Nelson Adzidogah, the Akatsi South Municipal Chief Executive and the Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is reported to have ignored the parliamentary debate organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) and the inter-party dialogue committee.

Mr Bernard Ahiafor of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Maxwell Atsah Kwame Nana representing the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and Mr Sanusi Murana who is on the ticket of National Democratic Party (NDP) were present for the debate.

The candidates were made to provide their solutions to jobs, social interventions, education, security, heath among others.

Mr Ahiafor, the NDC incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) promised to continue the developmental works in areas such as roads, job, education, sports among others.

Mr Maxwell Atsa Kwame Nana in his turn said, the CPP will make tertiary education free.

Mr Murana Sanusi of the APC also promised to build a sports stadia in Akatsi to help promote sports activities in the constituency.

Reverend F F Tsagli, the presbytery chairman of the Global Evangelical Church, Akatsi and Chairman of inter-party Dialogue Committee Akatsi, chaired the event.

Reverend F F Tsagli said, the debate is a platform for parliamentary candidates to share their views and strategies to develop their constituencies.

He advised the general public and the candidates to preach peace before, during and after the December 7 general election.

Mr Oral Robbert Amenyo, the NCCE Deputy Director of Volta Region also urged the candidates to stick to their promises of ensuring a peaceful election

Mr Vincent Adzika, the NCCE Akatsi South Municipal Director in his speech said citizens belong to different political parties but their core mandate should be unity and peace.

The debate was aimed at seeking the visions of the candidates and also answer questions from the general public on development of the constituency.

All the three candidates were optimistic of winning the parliamentary seat for Akatsi south.

Some supporters of the three parties present expressed satisfaction about their candidate's submissions.

Some in an interview with ModernGhana news also expressed disappointment about the absence of the NPP parliamentary candidate since they had important questions for him to answer.

The programme was attended by Chiefs, Assembly members, Security, health practitioners, heads of department, supporters of political parties and many others.
