An Appeal Court Judge swears-in four new members of University of Ghana Council

Four new members of the University of Ghana Council have been sworn into office at a brief ceremony in Accra.

They included Mr Anthony Oteng-Gyasi, Managing Director of Tropical Cable, President of Association of Ghana Industries and Chairman of the Council.

A statement issued by the Public Affairs Directorate of the University, said the others were Professor Walter Alhassan, immediate past Director-General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and currently a Consultant with Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA).

The rest were, Mrs Mary Chinery-Hesse, immediate past Deputy Director-General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO),Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and currently Advisor to President John Agyekum Kufuor and Mr Samuel Aboah, Managing Director of Sambus Ghana Limited who was re-appointed.

The statement said they were sworn-in by Mr Justice Anim-Yeboah, an Appeal Court Judge who also administered the Oath of Service.

Mr Oteng-Gyasi said as the highest decision-making body of the University, their appointment placed an onerous responsibility on them.

He therefore, urged members of the Council, to cooperate as a body and stand by their corporate decisions, irrespective of their individual differences.

Mr Oteng-Gyasi said even though, there might be difficulties ahead, they should exercise their collective responsibility to the success of the University.
