37 Nigeriens Leaving Kumasi Returned By Burkinabe Police After Sneaking Pass Unapproved Route At Pusiga

Officers of the Ghana Immigration Service at Kulungugu has received 37 Nigerien nationals who were returning from Kumasi to Niger on Monday after managing to sneak through unapproved routes at Pusiga District in the Upper East Region.

The Nigerien nationals were busted by Burkinabe police patrol team at a village near Sakanduri in Burkina Faso and were brought back to Kulungugu border in Ghana.

The 37 persons who entered the country illegally were exiting Kumasi despite the border closure.

According to the Immigration Command at Kulungugu's Border, the 37 emigrants were apprehended on Thursday morning by Burkina Faso police patrol team who were on their patrols.

The Command added that the Nigeriens who were travelling on tricycles through unapproved routes in Pusiga were intercepted after they managed to cross over.

According to the Immigration Command, the 37 Nigeriens were escorted back through Missiga, Zebilla, Tamale and finally to Kumasi with a strong warning never to make such an unlawful attempt again.

The Immigration Command At Kulungugu has called on citizens living around unapproved routes and the borders to stop aiding in trafficking such persons across the border through but rather hand them over to the security team.
