A doctor of optometry was on leave without pay from the Ghana Health Service (GHS), because she had to be with her husband who is a missionary but kept receiving salary in her account each month, for close to a year.

Considering it a mistake, they reported the issue to authorities on several occasions but payment kept coming, her husband said in a Facebook post in 2015.

The couple I suspect knew they couldn't keep money that is not theirs and also wanted to fight against corruption which would have been the case if they had kept the accumulated money.

After all, they had tried their best to stop them from depositing money in to their account.

But in 2015, they successfully returned the huge sum back to the government.

"By the grace of God,we have returned the money back to the government to the tune of close to 12 months salary," Mr Fianko Larbi wrote.

The couple hoped that returned money will land safely where it belongs so it could contribute to infrastructural development in the country.

This act of anti-corruption does not just tell a story. It goes a long way to say that we all in our little corner can contribute to end corruption. We do not need to assume political offices in order to help in the fight against corruption.

This story in the end kind of restore hope in humanity, reminding us that given the world we are in now, there exist angels.
