I will always be team Ghana no matter what — Lydia Forson slams those who badmouth Black Stars

Celebrated Ghanaian actress and social critic, Lydia Forson has reiterated her undying love for the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars.

Miss Forson has stated that she will always give her all for the Black Stars of Ghana, even in times of defeat.

She is confused as to why some Ghanaians will choose to hate their own country and rather support another country to win the World Cup.

She described such behaviour in a tweet on Wednesday, November 23, spotted by Modernghana News, as having a "weird defeatist attitude."

“I don’t know how y’all can support another country to win the #WorldCup but not your own?” she quizzed.

“This weird defeatist attitude will never be me. I will always be team Ghana no matter what,” she vowed.

Ghana is set to lock horns with the Portuguese side on Thursday, November 24 in Doha at Stadium 974, in their first World Cup Group Stage campaign.

The Black Stars will move ahead to meet South Korea on Monday, November 28, and finally Uruguay on Friday, December 2.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars of Ghana are currently rated as the lowest-performing team among the 32 countries, at 61 on the FIFA world rankings for the tournament, followed by Saudi Arabia.

However, after an incredible performance against the Swiss national team in a friendly game on Thursday, November 17, where the Stars walked over their opponents by 2-0, many now have faith the team is ready to compete.
