Tagging celebrities as cheats is not fair – Eddie Nartey defends celebs

Actor cum movie producer, Eddie Nartey, says it is unfair to tag every celebrity as a cheat because cheating is part of human nature.

‘’The impression that all celebrities cheat on their partners is very wrong and untrue. Cheating is based on the attitude of your partner in the relationship. It’s up to every celebrity to stay focused on their relationship,’’ he told MzGee on Showbiz Sunday.

He said the perception that celebrities are cheats is affecting those who genuinely want to have a decent and serious relationship.

“I’ve had a lot of women who didn’t take me seriously in terms of relationships because I am a celebrity, and they think I have lots of women around, so my approach to them is taken as a joke”, the ‘Beautiful Ruins’ producer added.

He debunked the assertion that all celebrities indulge in infidelity.

The entertainment industry has been gripped by the news that comedian, Funny Face, has divorced his wife Nana Adjoa after two years. He has publicly accused her of unfaithfulness. She is yet to respond.

Happier times, funnier times; Nana Adjoa and Funny Face.

Discussing cheating in relationships, Eddie Nartey explained that ‘’it's not just the celebrities who cheat, so many rumours go around the media about celebrities cheating which is usually false. Being a celebrity comes with the burden of staying focused on your relationship, cheating is an option.’’

He confessed to cheating in some previous relationships and also complained about being cheated too.

‘’I have cheated and been cheated on before. When you really like someone, cheating will not be an obstruction the relationship will still go further. But when a person cheats the partner contributes to the act in terms of their attitude in the relationship.’’

Though Eddie was not forthcoming with his reason for cheating on his partner, he stressed that cheating in a relationship is mostly caused by ‘’a lot of mistrust’’.

“As a celebrity, we are always surrounded by people and fans especially the ladies and basically, that’s what makes us celebrities, but most partners do not comprehend and tend to feel insecure,” he said.

“Once you are in a relationship you have to be on board with the rumours and learn to trust your partner,” he added.
