Food For All Ghana Recovers Food To Feed Kinder Paradise Orphanage

As we commemorate the death and resurrection of Christ this Easter, Food for All Ghana Campaign replicated the sacrifice Christ made for humanity by recovering food that goes wasted along our food supply chain to feed inmates of Kinder Paradise Orphanage in Prampram. The items recovered by the foundation included rice, spaghetti, mackerel, tomatoes puree, onion, tomatoes, fruit juices, clothes, shoes and slippers.

Speaking at the presentation of the items to the orphanage, Chef Elijah Amoo Addo, founder of the foundation reiterated the need for food recovery and food banks to be encouraged in Ghana given the high number of people living without access to decent food especially the mentally challenged, aged, street kids and vulnerable for that reason rebranding Chefs for Change Ghana to Food for All Ghana Campaign. Food recovery is one of the major solutions to food wastage and hunger in Ghana. He furthered stated that if government can give tax incentives to businesses that donate their excess food stocks to food banks within the country, this will encourage businesses to donate more and this will reduce the amount of food that goes expiring in businesses. This food he said “when recovered could even be used to implement the school feeding program and this will greatly reduce government’s burden of feeding less privileged citizens within the country”.

He commended Market Direct Limited, Nestlé Ghana, Market women and individuals who supported with their excess food products and appealed to cooperate bodies within the country to support their initiative of building West Africa’s first food recovery bank in Ghana.

Director of Kinder Paradise, Madam Silke Roesner appreciated the efforts been made by Food for All Ghana Campaign to reduce food wastage in Ghana by educating and recovering food to feed those that need it. She encouraged cooperate bodies and individuals to emulate and not waste food in anyway.
