Juliet Ibrahim, Eddie Watson, Charlotte Derban And Others Join The PTG Campaign
For Zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between UNAIDS and FIFA to carry out joint advocacy activities in all competitions organized by FIFA. Branding the campaign with FIFA's soccer concept, 'Protect the Goal' illustrates the power of protection and fosters HIV prevention and treatment in preparations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
On April 9th, Actress Juliet Ibrahim, actor Eddie Watson and model Charlotte Derban together pledged to stand with UNAIDS, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC) and other partners to Protect the Goal and sustain the gains made against the spread of the epidemic (HIV) in Ghana.
Having pledged wholeheartedly, the three came up with a creative idea to carry out the campaign. And living with friends with HIV-AIDS, the gems were well informed during their interaction with the UNAIDS Country Director to Ghana, Girmay Haile and the Director General of the Ghana AIDS Commission, Dr Angela El-Adas.
The HIV president of Ghana, Mr. Kofi Amofa, Editor for the Daily Express, Kofi Effah Jnr and Yemoh Ike (Event Developer and Publicist) were also present and pledged to 'Protect the Goal' campaign.
You can also Protect the Goal by using condom to prevent any sexual transmitted infections. Knowing your HIV Status is another way to prevent yourself from the risks of HIV infection or better still reduce your Sex Partners to reduce the risk of acquiring the disease.
