Glo Meets With Ambassadors

Their faces glowed with smiles and they played with the new ‘toys’ in their hands at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra last Tuesday, as if they were reminders of their star status in society.

Reggie Rockstone, Tinny, Asem, Kwabena Kwabena, Irene Logan, Efya, Pat Thomas, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Paapa Yankson, Sherifa Gunu, Edem, Van Vicker and Jackie Appiah had been brought together by the management of Glo Mobile Ghana in their roles as Glo brand ambassadors and they were made to feel like real stars as they were presented with Blackberry Porsche phones, SIM cards, free airtime and contract extensions by the telecommunications company.

“We are Africans. If we don’t celebrate and inspire our icons and ambassadors who have made us proud, nobody will celebrate them for us,” was how the Head of Business for GLO Mobile Ghana, Mr. Patrick Awotwi, patted the company’s ambassadors on the back at the brief but jolly event that also demonstrated the rapport that exists between the people that continually occupy the entertainment news headlines in this country.

Glo unveiled its brand ambassadors in October, 2009 and their faces and voices have since represented the company’s activities.

“As we continue to empower our subscribers to succeed in their businesses and family lives by providing them with cutting edge telecommunications facilities, so shall we continue to empower our ambassadors to grow from strength to strength,” said Mr Awotwi who attributed the telecom’s impressive performance on the scene so far to the generality of Ghanaians, the media, its dealers and its invaluable ambassadors.

Speaking on behalf his colleagues, Reggie Rockstone gave the thumbs up to Glo for appointing some of our older musicians also as brand ambassadors.

“One of the greatest things about Glo for me, is the recognition of some of our older musicians… It is a sort of guarantee that when I’m at their age I can still get some good money flowing into my account from time to time,” the hiplife patriarch said.

“You might be a musician and just grow old old, poor and die . Luckily, that won’t happen to the people in this room and I thank God and Glo for that.”

Gyedu Blay Ambolley also spoke and praised Glo for realizing the importance of entertainment and making ambassadors out of some of the known names in that area here.

Managers of the Glo brand ambassadors also received high-end Nokia phones.
