10 Days In Africa

An African American's journey to the Motherland

Filmmaker Regi Allen journeys to Ghana, Senegal and Cote d' Ivoire on a 10-day journey to explore his roots and the myths about black identity and culture.

The film takes touches upon the commodification of Africa by the Western world and how certain institutions profit from the legacy of slavery, the disconnect between Africans in the diaspora and those back home, Pan-Africanism, classism, racism, commercialism and other -isms. So many questions are raised in this film, and I think it's a great starting place to have extensive dialogue about Africa and how to dispel the myths that have corrupted the world's perception of the continent.
