Stakeholders to co-operate with government for quality education

Koforidua (E\R), May 28, GNA - The Acting Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr Jacob A.M Kor, has called for collaboration between government and stakeholders for the provision of quality education.

He said government alone could not provide the resources and the environment for quality education, without the support of the beneficiaries.

Mr Kor made the remarks when he addressed the 39th Annual Conference of Managers of Catholic Education Unit (COMCEU) on the theme: 'Catholic Education-A Formation For Good Stewardship" in Koforidua.

Mr Kor explained that for education to achieve its desired results, students ought to learn hard, while parents cultivated interest in the welfare of children.

He entreated teachers to be dedicated and committed towards their work, and also urged all Educational Managers, District and Regional Directors, to improve upon their supervisory and monitoring roles of schools under them.

The President of COMCEU, Rev. Father John Amankwah, called for more involvement of religious organisations in the running of mission schools, to help train the youth.

Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, Bishop of Donkorkrom Diocese, stated that education without morality was dangerous, and called for the avoidance of personality conflicts which affected the educational system.
