COSRANS Visit Seminaries

MEMBERS of the Catholic Organisation for Social and Religious Advancement (COSRA) have paid separate familiarisation visits to the major seminaries in Tamale and Pedu at Cape Coast to see at first hand how priests of the Catholic Church are trained.

The biennial visits, which precede the National Delegates Congress, afforded the members the opportunity to interact with the seminarians, had Eucharistic celebrations with them, played games and finally made presentations to the seminarians.

At Pedu, where over 700 COSRANS were in attendance, GH¢1,000 was donated to the authorities of the seminary towards the construction of a befitting entrance to the seminary.

In addition, 20 dozen white handerkerchiefs were presented to the seminarians and they also promised to give more support towards the construction of the entrance.

The Very Rev. Msgr. Kwaku Donkor, a lecturer at the seminary, commended COSRA for instituting such periodic visit, saying that it goes a long way to show that the members are really concerned about the activities of the priests.

He said that there is nothing bigger than the visit and caring for the would-be priests and that it was part of the social and religious responsibility of the group.

He said that since the establishment of COSRA some 38-years-ago, activities of the group had positively affected a chunk of the Catholic youth in the country.

Msgr. Donkor told the group that the world is longing for Jesus more than ever, and therefore urged them to marshal all the resources at their disposal and go to the field to be witnesses of Christ.

The Students Representative Council (SRC) President of the Seminary, Rev. Stephen Deh, said the Seminary is truly a happy place with a daily order that integrates them into true human persons for the work of God.

Your biennial visits to the seminary, established since the Rectorship of Msgr. Jonathan Thomas Ankrah had stood the test of time. Every such visit underscores the relationship between you and the seminary. Your presence this year too, reveals to us your deep commitment towards the seminary. With great sincerity may I say that we are very happy, indeed elated to have you among us , he said.

Callistus Kwesi Bismarck, national president of COSRA, said they are trying to build a group that will understand that they have a mission to be accomplished by ensuring that they confront the challenges of the time.
