NDC Milton Keynes Youth Condemns Sammy Awuku's Call For Youth Violence In Ghana
02.11.2015 LISTEN

We have read with trepidation the social media cry of the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party, Sammy Awuku, for youth violence in Ghana following the crumbling of his party's case for a new voters' register. We wish to condemn in no uncertain terms this easy resort to violence by a young man who is supposed to be a role model to Ghanaian youth.

By this statement we wish to register our resolute support for the press response issued by the National Youth Organiser of our party the National Democratic Congress, Sidii Abubakar.

We wish to make it clear to Sammy Awuku and his ilk that, democracy has no place for violence as an answer to difference. If he is truly commited to the tenets of our fourth republican constitution and the equal rights of all in a genuine participatory democracy, he must respect the differing views of all and sanctity of Article 46 which bars any direction or control of the Electoral Commission by any person or authority outside of it.

We therefore wish to remind the New Patriotics Party and its aggressive elements of President Obama's advise to the people of Ghana, that we of Africa do not require strong men; we require strong institutions. Sammy Awuku and his ilk need to learn this sooner than later.

Our clarion call to all Ghanaian youth is for them to shun the company of those who entice them to violence. After all, we have a greater stake in a peaceful Ghana than the older generation.

Long Live Ghana and its Youth

Long Live the NDC

Long Live NDC MK.
