Probity, Accountability And Social Justice

Probity, Accountability And Social Justice
06 FEB 2013 LISTEN

These were the pillars under which the NDC being the only political party formed out of government and not formed to win political power.

In the fourth republic, the NDC having being the only political party who had the better part of the period to rule and you ask how effectively these principles or political ideologies have come to the fore during the NDC'S period of stewardship.

It has been observed that corruption is at its peak when governments come and make appointments with the mind set of creating jobs for the boys or compensating party members who loose in elections.

This attitude leads to many persons who would have better served society and or are serving in various fields of endeavors' are now paraded to quit their chosen talents into the political arena and many of them keep messing up in their quest to also loot the state for one thing or the other. If others are doing it and no one is complaining or the law is failing to take its course.

Ironically in2000 elections when the former President J.A. Kufuor won the polls with widespread of corruption going on in the later part of the NDC administration under the watch of former President Rawlings, J.A. Kuffour in his inaugural ceremony promised Ghanaians of zero tolerance for corruption which was practically selective and non- existence in his second term in office.

It is a constitutional requirement that the president can appoint and revoke appointments of ministers of state and their deputies, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives many of whom eyes parliamentary seats when appointed and confirmed, council of state among others.

Many of these appointees due one form of misconduct or the other get their appointments terminated by the President but little is done about notifying the public what are their misconducts and what punitive measures are put in place by the President to safe guard further looting of the public purse.

This current parliament is full of many of such people who openly looted and have done many things which do not inure to the benefit of society but rather denigrate it for their parochial partisan ambitions.

They were DCE's who awarded contracts to themselves and their cohorts with impunity ignoring all regulations especially the procurement law in broad day light, just to cough cash from the public purse to run political campaigns for parliamentary seats, leaving the poor and vulnerable in society to continue suffering and setting bad precedents for their predecessors to emulate.

What kind of society are we seeking to build, the moral fibre no longer exist the spirit of nationalism is completely lost, yet the same people suffering keep on voting for no change in our lives, and have no learned to change our ways. It is not as if we know but these callous politicians wants us ill informed and more vulnerable, so that the least offer from them for power will be well appreciated and lure us into granting them our power to loot the more.

After every four year term whether there is a new government or not its natural and proper we evaluate the performance of all appointees for public consumption during their period of stewardship.

GOD SAVE GHANA NOW AND PUT THE FEAR OF GOD INTO THE MINDS OF OUR LEADERS TO ADMINISTER GOOD SENSE OF LEADERSHIP
