Melcom Care Donates Prizes For Regional Millennium Marathon Winners

Melcon Care has fulfilled their promise of donating prizes to the winners of the millennium marathon.

At a short but impressive ceremony, the founder and chairman of Melcom Group of Companies Mr. Bhagwan Khubchandani said he was very happy to be associated with the Millennium Marathon which is taking place in Ghana for the first time and has attracted many international concerns.

He urged the youth of Ghana who are the future leaders to participate in the event and learn how to socialize and respect the elderly who must also run to cultivate the habit of exercising.

According to Mr. Khubchandani, Melcom for its love for sports and Melcom Care for its good spirit cannot be left out of the Millennium Marathon.

He stressed that the nature of Melcom Care is about charity, and they believe in giving back to society.

Godwin Avenorgbo, Director of Communications at Melcom who addressed the media covering the event said as a grassroot company under the Melcom care foundation , Melcom has in agreement with the organizers of the millennium marathon decided to donate prizes to winners of the regional.

He noted that Melcom is in the thick of affairs because they are proud of the young boys and girls who defied the early weather to run for fame.

The director of communications who is veteran broadcaster said the presentation will benefit them and the nation in diverse ways, such as leaving an indelible mark on the world of sports, rejuvenate the interest in mass sports events, create a platform for mass keep fit movement in the effort to build a healthy nation , opportunity to attract healthy and competitive sports tourists, use the numbers to generate growth in the hospitality and other sectors of the economy and to let the world experience the proverbial Ghana hospitality.

The package include a digital television set each for the regional millennium marathon winners and a quantity of Melcom Nsupa Water to refresh runners and officials on September 5, 2015.

Mr. Seth Agyin, Director at the Ministry of Youth & Sports who stood in for the Minister said sports has many benefits and urge all Ghanaians to join the Millennium Marathon.

Ambassador Ashim Morton, the brain behind the event announced that the African Olympic legend in running, Haile Gebsreselase has assured of his presence to be the Race Director alongside other international marathoners.

He hinted that an estimated 15,000 runners are expected to participate and he commended the sponsors who have proved their desire to see a healthy nation with healthy people.

Mr. Samuel Ashie of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) assured the city dwellers and runners that everything has been put in place to avoid any mishap.
