2ND REGIONAL SPORTS AUTHORITY STAFF AND STAKEHOLDERS AWARDS CEREMONY

Distinguished Media Persons, I welcome you all to today's media briefing on the pending 2nd Regional Sports Authority Staff and Stakeholders awards ceremony.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, 4th March, 2014 from 11:00am to 2p.m. and will be under the distinguished joint patronage of Hon. Julius Debrah – Greater Accra Regional Minister, and Ms Alice Attipoe – Ag. Director-General of the National Sports Authority.

The essence of the awards is to recognise and appreciate the relentless efforts of staff and stakeholders of the Authority in consolidating the achievements of Sports development and promotion in the region during the previous year.

The categories for the 2nd edition of the Awards include; Best Metropolitan, Municipal and District Sports Director, Best Regional Coach, Most Disciplined and Dedicated Staff, Overall Best Regional Athlete, Best Grounds Man and Overall Regional Best Worker.

Four Regional Sports Association chairpersons, out of the over 33 Sports Associations, will also be awarded for their dedicated service.

Besides, other meritorious awards will be given to other deserving personalities for their immense contributions to the overall sports achievements of the Regional Sports Authority.

Major sports development partners of the Regional Sports Authority, including the media, would equally be awarded at the ceremony.

Very attractive cash and kind awards to be presented are aimed at motivating staff and the Regional Development Partners to increase their contribution to the attainment of the mission and vision of the Greater Accra Regional Sports Authority under the leadership of Mr Kwame Amponfi Jnr.

Special Guests of Honour, including the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon Julius Debrah, the Ag. Director-General of the National Sports Authority, the Chief Sports Development Officer of the National Sports Authority, Mr Erasmus Adorkor, as well as other top representatives of the Public Service Workers Union are expected to grace the occasion.

The achievements of the Regional Sports Directorate for the year 2013, together with 2014 Action Plan, will also be outlined at the function.
