A five-day national training workshop for film musical writers and composers ended in Accra at the weekend with a call on Ghanaians film Producers to step up the quality of sound bite, costume and storyline of local films.

Mr Martin Loh, Director of National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI), called for the injection of professionalism into the film production to meet the standard of international recognition and acceptability.

He called on film producers to use the expertise of professionals, mostly from the institute, to ensure that “the nation reclaims its height in the industry”.

The workshop was organised by NAFTI in collaboration the French Embassy to equip Ghanaian music composers with the skills of writing original music soundtrack for films in order to minimize the use of already composed music on Ghanaian films and to improve considerably the quality of music in our films.

The resource person included Yves de Bujadoux, an international film music writer, composer and director.

The participants included Azonko Simpi, Jackson Dela Kwaokumey, Jackie Ankrah, Kafui Deh, Fred Vandyke Michael Adom, Sammy Herman, Stanley Arthur, Reuben Badu and Andrew Obeng.
