The participants mainly women, prayed for the various flagbearers, aspiring Members of Parliament (MPs), Electoral Commission (EC) and supporters, as well as the polling agents of the various political parties.
Addressing the gathering, Madam Cecilia Owusu-Ansah, Secretary of the Asante Presbytery Women's Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church, said “we should not take the peace the nation was enjoying for granted and that the time has come for us to work hard towards sustaining it”.
She said that the onus was on political activists and supporters as well as political leaders to conduct their activities devoid of acrimony, insults and practices that had the tendencies to throw the nation into turmoil.
Madam Owusu-Ansah observed that Ghana had over the years gained the reputation of being the beacon of hope among the community of nations, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, as a result of “our adherence to good governance and rule of law”.
She therefore charged Christians and Ghanaians in general to pray unceasingly to protect this record for the socio-economic advancement of the nation.
