GHANA’S MOST Beautiful has certainly gripped the imagination of the nation. It is exciting and keeps improving week after week.

Four contestants have so far been shown the exit while six others are left standing tall. Who would be the next, is no doubt the question hovering in the minds of viewers and readers.

Last week your authoritative BEATWAVES visited the girls at a rehearsal session and gathered some information about who they are.

Erica

From the Brong Ahafo Region, Erica Joanna Arthur is a teacher by profession. She had her elementary education at the Mofetro Girls School in Kumasi. She continued to the St. Louis Secondary School and finally Wesley College, where, she got her training as a teacher. Besides that, she had a little bit of media training.

Ghana’s Most Beautiful (GMB) for Erica is not only to display her traditional values to the viewing public, but to also win the coveted crown to nurture talents in her region.

She is embarking on a library project; and she hopes winning the reality show would make the future brighter for her.

Described by her inmates as the mother of GMB house, Erica is also the Chaplain of the house. She thinks the GMB is exciting, in respect of the judges’ comments. She said the programme has refined her, deepened and widened her vision of the country.

Erica advised viewers to look beyond what they do on stage, as winning the show goes beyond that.

Akua

She is the elder of two children of Mr. James Ansah Asare and the late Madam Christina Anak. Her mom died when she was 16.

Hence at that tender age, she acted as a mother and daughter to her nuclear family. Currently she is a student at Accra Polytechnic studying BBS Accounting.

Akua who hails from Kwewu Bomi in the Eastern Region but stays at Madina in Accra, loves cooking and listening to music and as well adores entertainment in general. Her favorite international and local stars are Alicia Keys and Philipa Abeifi.

She is one of the contestants who revealed she is not really scared of eviction.

“When I was coming for the programme, I said to myself that it is a reality show, without eviction, it is not a reality show. So if I am evicted, I will take it in good faith”, were her words.

Besides the excitement she gets from the show, Akua is happy with the recognition she is getting from the viewing public and for that, she thanked TV3 and sponsors of the programme.

Fanny

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Aggreyfin, as Frances Emisa Aggreyfin, her mom prefers to call her Fanny. Initially she wanted to take after her dad who formally worked with GBC but upon second thought, she went into Beauty Therapy.

In the GMB house, she is oldest. She is 35. She believes whatever one does in the past, manifests in the person’s future life.

According to Fanny she had never said no to extra curriculum activities while in school.

“I don’t care what it is, I take part. I think that is what is propelling and helping me in my performances.” She said there is a lot of pressure on her because she always gets good comments from the judges. Besides little time to rest, she thinks the GMB has helped her overcome her shyness.

Ruweida

The youngest in the GMB house, Ru is 20 year of age. She is the last of four sisters, namely Isha, Nura and Hamida. Her dad Mr. Abubakar Saddique is an ex soldier while her mom is a caterer who runs her own restaurants in Kumasi and Temale.

Aspiring to be a great woman in life, Ru started schooling from the Kamina Primary and JSS in Temale. She proceeded to St. Louis Secondary School in Kumasi. Currently she is at the Islamic University in Accra. Ru’s interest in learning pushed her into GMB.

According to her the show is educative. For her the first lady who represented the Northern Region during the maiden edition of GMB did excellently well and she is on the show to step it up. All she needs now is the votes to keep her in the house.

Ru said one of her most challenging performances was the night of lullaby, when she had to act as a mother even though she is only 20. The second was the introductory gig which kick-started this year’s event.

The show, she noted, has helped her to build on her confidence, as she can now boldly speak in front of a large gathering without panicking.

Eyram

Her real name is Mavis Eyram Dotse, 26 years of age and she hails from Tegbe in the Volta Region.

While growing up Eyram wanted to study Science in the Senior Secondary School (SSS); apparently wishing to become a doctor in future.

However, that did not happen as she lost her dad Mr. William Dotse when she was 15.

Due to the hardship that her family endured, she gave up her dream and rather pursued Home Economics in the SSS since that was not expensive.

After SSS things were still did not go on well in terms of finances, and so she could not make it the university. Currently she is studying graphic designing at NIIT.

Besides the entertainment, Eyram said GMB is giving her the opportunity to learn more about her culture as well as that of others.

For her, the former Volta Region contestant of the maiden event, Esi, has set a standard which poses a big challenge to her; but nevertheless she would not let her fans down.

Adoley

She is one contestant who is described as a star in her own right. This is because though both of her parents Mr. Simon Kwame Addo and Madam Alberta Akua Mefful are deaf and dumb, she did not give up the struggle to attain higher heights.

23 years of age, she has a senior brother and kid sister. Due to her parents’ condition, life has not been rosy at all for her.

However she managed to complete the St Ghana Anglican JSS at Osu and the Salvation Army Secondary School at Akyem Wenchi. Currently she is hoping to further her studies at the university.

Sara Naa Adoley Addo has interest in beauty pageants for a purpose- to fight the cause of the physically challenged- and winning the pageant would make this possible.
