98 BECE Girls PregnantBy Daily GraphicMon, 22 Jun 2009 | Print | E-Mail | PDF | Graphics Version Education Out of over 100 girls who were found to be pregnant during this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), in the Brong-Ahafo Region this year, about 98 could not readily mention the names of the men responsible for their pregnancies when asked by officials who visited various examination centres. This was disclosed in a speech made by the Brong-Ahafo Deputy Regional Minister, Mr Eric Opoku, during the dedication service of the Faith Assemblies of God Church at Dormaa Ahenkro recently. The Minister explained that when such situations occur it narrows the country’s future since these children are the future leaders . He charged parents to be very vigilant in the discharge of their parental duties and pastors to intensify their teaching to instil moral discipline in the country’s future leaders in order to reduce such moral decadence. He added that the building of spacious churches mean the creation of vacant seats for souls who are going wayward and that the churches must do well to bring back these prodigal children. The Minister announced that the provision of school uniforms and exercise books to pupils as promised by the President would begin by the close of September this year. He emphasised that the materials for the school uniforms would be produced locally and the sewing would be done by our own local tailors and seamstresses to create employment for these artisans. He praised the Faith Assemblies of God Church for helping to develop human resource through the establishment of schools to educate children especially the needy through their scholarship scheme. The Deputy Minister promised government’s support through the Municipal Assembly to Rev Felix John Yeboah, to accomplish his vision of establishing a computer laboratory, girls’ dormitory and all other good plans he has in mind for the country’s future leaders. Reverend Felix John Yeboah has been the supervising minister of the church since 1993.
