No Bad Blood Between Haruna & Limuna -Azorka

The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Sofo Azorka, has denied any division or antagonism between the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, and the former Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna.

It is being rumoured that Mr. Iddrisu and Alhaji Limuna are at loggerheads over the NDC 2016 Northern Regional Campaign Coordinator’s position.

However, Chief Azorka, in
an interview with The Chronicle in Tamale, dropped the hint that the rumour was being peddled by followers of the two influential leaders. The followers are reported to have accused the NDC Regional Chairman of supporting one of the two personalities.

But Chief Azorka denied the allegation, saying: “I don’t blame anybody, but supporters of our party who follow Limuna and Haruna, who want to knock our heads together.”

He said that none of the two informed him about their intention to lead the party’s campaign in the region, which, he noted, had made it highly impossible for him to support any of them.

He emphasised that the two gentlemen, who are also ministers of state, are good friends and have the common aim of retaining President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in power in 2016.

Chief Azorka, therefore, described it as exercise in futility for anybody to break their ranks.

Meanwhile, the 2016 Northern Regional Campaign Coordinator’s position has been given to Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna. “As Regional Chairman, my duty is to lead the party to victory, and whatever the Campaign Coordinator is going to do, is to complement our efforts, so people should stop creating misunderstandings between us.”

The NDC Regional Chairman hinted that his target was to win at least 27 parliamentary seats in 2016. Chief Azorka, therefore, appealed to the supporters of the NDC to remain peaceful and united for the envisaged victory.
