The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary hopeful for the Ofoase Ayirebi constituency, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, believes political parties must move from the era where individuals solely financed party campaigns.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah called for a democratization of campaign financing processes to allow for individuals and organizations who believe in the message of a particular candidate to support with their resources.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, he said, “campaign financing should allow for more support from people who believe in a candidate's cause so that that candidate does not owe allegiance or obeisance to any particular corporate entity or big man at the top.”

In view of this, the NPP parliamentary hopeful will tomorrow launch a fundraiser at the Alisa Hotel to solicit funds to support a 16 week campaign in the constituency.

The funds will go into logistics to facilitate effective campaigning in the constituency.

“I am trying to raise a lot of resources to go and prosecute my 16 week campaign and be successful in the election; there are villages that you cannot drive into; you've got to get down on a motorbike and ride into so you need all those logistics to go there because that's where the votes are'' he said.
