NDC NPP unaware of developmental needs in Volta – NDC
JUN 10, 2016 LISTEN

The Volta Regional Communication Director of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kafui Agbleze, has said the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), does not appreciate the developmental needs of the people of the Volta Region.

According to him, the NPP are instead promising projects that are already being executed by the governing party.

The Flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo Addo, during his recent tour of the region among other promises, told residents of Klikor in the Ketu South District of the Volta Region, that they will not experience perennial water shortages under his tenure as President.

But the NDC in the Volta Region observed that such promises do not connect with the people since government by far has put in measures towards improving lives in the region.

“Per the intelligence available to us, Nana Akuffo Addo’s promises made to the people have not gone down well with them hence they are questioning his level of appreciation of developmental issues in the region.”

A statement signed by the Communication Director, Kafui Agbleze, stated “Nana Addo made the following promises without checking his facts:

1. To provide the people of Klikor with water.
2. To construct a bridge on the Volta river.
3. To explore the Keta oil basin.
The water project is being done by government to cover areas such as Satsimadzah, Dodorkope, Klikor, Tokor etc.

The people of Satsimadzah are currently using this water. Pipelines have also been laid to Klikor with an overhead reservoir being worked on.

The Keta oil exploration, Swiss Africa and Pet Volta investments, have been awarded the exploration and production license for the Keta block which covers 3000 square kilometres.

On Nana Addo’s promise to construct a bridge, the government has already secured a loan from Japan for the construction of a new bridge across the Volta River which is part of the eastern corridor road.”

He added that the NPP lacks innovation and that its actions are clear signs of defeat in the upcoming general elections.
