06.05.2016 LISTEN

The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) in collaboration with its partners the French Institute for Development, Paris Dauphine University and the European Union is organising a two-day policy conference, under the theme: “Enhancing Knowledge for Renewed Policies against Poverty”.

The conference scheduled for May 23-24 in Accra, will bring together policy makers and researchers from seventeen countries four continents - Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe - to share their respective research findings, experiences, policy recommendations and how it can impact on national policies aimed at reducing poverty.

The conference is also expected to provide the platform for interaction and assisting policy makers, development partners and government agencies with evidence-based recommendations that can help shape policies and programs to reduce poverty; and provide policymakers with a broader understanding of poverty and renewed policies to address poverty levels in the country.

Deputy Director and Head of Research and Programs at CDD-Ghana, Dr. Franklin Oduro reiterates that ‘even though causes of poverty differ between countries, the NOPOOR project, using in-depth varied research methods and evidence-based research, has come out with recommended policies and actions tailored to each member country’s characteristics, including access to resources, political regime, quality of institutions and governance’.
