PNC Presidential Nominee visits Tamale Chiefs

Tamale, April 4, GNA - Dr Edward Mahama, Presidential Nominee of the People's National Convention (PNC) on Monday paid courtesy calls on some chiefs in Tamale to ask for their support as he embarked on campaigns seeking the mandate of the people during the November polls.

Dr Mahama, who was accompanied by Mr Bernard Mornah, Chairman of PNC amongst other National and Regional Executives of the Party, visited Gukpegu-Naa Alhaji Alhassan Abdulai, Paramount Chief of Tamale, and Dakpema-Naa Alhaji Mohammed Alhassan Dawuni, a Chief in Tamale.

Dr Mahama said chiefs played important roles in the development of society hence his decision to seek their support and blessings ahead of the November general election.

He spoke about his campaign saying it was based on three thematic areas namely 'new beginnings, new deal and new force' which aimed at restructuring the public sector to be responsive to the needs of the people.

He said a PNC government would work to address the problems of agriculture to reduce the country's rice import bill as well as make her the number one cocoa producer in the world.

Dr Mahama, therefore, urged young people to register to become the atom in his campaign to help change the country for the better.

Gukpegu-Naa Alhaji Abdulai said it was God, who chose leaders, and urged politicians to be patient to wait for their turn to rule the country.

He called on political parties to promote peace during their campaigns to ensure successful elections.
