Police warn motorists plying Peki road to be extra cautious

Police in the Volta Region are cautioning motorist plying roads in the Peki area to be extra cautious to avoid accidents.

Peki District Police commander DSP Jonas Kofi Abganyosince said most of the roads are under construction and have become possible death traps

The warning comes a day after three military men lost their lives when a minibus they were travelling in collided with a passenger Benz bus.

According to a witness the soldiers were heading to Accra in a Toyota Hiace Hearse vehicle when the accident occurred.

Their bus was said to have collided head on with an oncoming benz bus which was carrying some passengers as well as some roofing sheets, rice, bicycles and some cartridges.

DSP Jonas Kofi Abganyo who confirmed the tragedy to Joy News, said nine others who were injured, including the driver of the Benz bus are responding to treatment at the Peki Government Hospital.

DSP Abgeva is however asking motorists to be mindful when using the road.

“We have been cautioning the drivers that the roads are under construction so the little mistake you do, you’ll be off the road and risk your life.

“So the drivers should be very careful, very methodical when they are driving so that they can save lives. Life is precious,” he added.
