Gitmo 2; NPP Should Shy Away From The Unproductive Politics

Feature Article Gitmo 2; NPP Should Shy Away From The Unproductive Politics
JAN 30, 2016 LISTEN

Folks, I have continued to deride these NPP people for not being politically savvy enough to do productive politics that will return them to power.

Yesterday, their appendages in the media started reading a letter of some four US Senators who petitioned the Appropriations Committee of the Congress demanding that foreign aid be withheld from Ghana if the two Gitmo detainees, Mahmoud Omar Mohammed Bin Atef and Khalid Mohammed Salih al Dhuby should escape from Ghana.

The four opposition senators l, Mark Kirk R-Ill ( Republican representing Illinois) Roy Blunt, R-Mo( Republican representing Missouri) James Lankford, R-Okla( Republican representing Oklahoma) and Steve Daines, R-Mont( Republican representing Montana).

Let's not forget that in the run up to the 2008 US elections, the closure of the guantanamo Bay was one of the major campaign promises by president Obama

It is an open secret that his efforts to close down the detention camp was frustrated by the Republicans for 7 years. Now, at the twilight of his administration, if he's able to closedown the camp, it will help their campaign and brighten their chances. Failure to do that, the Republicans will have a campaign tool. In fact, it will constitute a broken promise.

It unintelligent to use a letter written by four opposition mps in making a generalised conclusion.

I don't want to believe that the Npp thinks that the four petitioners speaks on behalf of the entire US Congress.

The agitation by the Npp is only a ploy to make government look bad in the eyes of Ghanaians. They are aware that no amount of fermentation can send the detainees back. Since it will constitute a major diplomatic breach which have dire consequences to the nation.

What I can conclude is that , the Npp are bereft with campaign messages so they would want to take advantage of anything mishap to court public sympathy. They should shy away from this unproductive politics and give Ghanaians alternatives.

We are watching...
