Ejisu (Ash), October 7, GNA - The Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly failed to elect a Presiding Member (PM) as none of the five contestants could garner the two-thirds majority of the total votes cast by the 66-member Assembly, to qualify as a clear winner after two rounds of voting.

Mr. Johnny Osei Kofi, Deputy Chief of Staff of the President however went ahead to inaugurate the Assembly at Ejisu on Tuesday.

The winner required to poll 45 of the total votes cast to emerge as a winner.

The first round of the polls saw Gabriel Ansah-Sasraku, Charles Bawuah, Michael Owusu, Victor Ofori Attah, all elected Assembly members and Solomon Ranxford Addea (Government Appointee), contesting.

After none of the candidates pulled two-thirds of the total votes cast, two of the contestants, Charles Bawuah and Victor Ofori Attah pulled out of the race.

This necessitated a second round, during which the remaining three; Ansah-Sasraku, had 34 votes, Owusu polled 9 votes with Addea securing 22 whiles one vote was rejected.

The election was supervised by Mr. Ofori Gyamfi, the Ejisu Juaben Municipal Electoral Officer.

No date has however been fixed for a re-election.
