Kumbungu(N/R), Oct 7, GNA - Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Employment and Labour Relations has advised members of the Kumbungu District Assembly (KDA) to eschew partisanship and work together for the development of the District.

Mr Iddrisu, who read the President's statement during the swearing-in of the newly elected assembly members and government appointees of the KDA at Kumbungu on Tuesday, urged members to be guided by the national interest in the discharge of their duties.

The KDA is composed of 24 elected assembly members and 11 government appointees, who after being sworn-in, also elected Mr Iddrisu Dawuda, a teacher and Assembly Member from Zugu Electoral Area, as the Presiding Member of the KDA.

The Minister said petty partisanship would stifle development at the Assembly and urged members to mobilize all human and material resources to promote the development of the District.

Mr Iddrisu also called on members to explore avenues to create employment for the people of the District.

Alhaji Alhassan Musah, District Chief Executive for Kumbungu said 'I expect to have close collaboration from all of you and we should let consensus building, respect for each other's views and above all, the interest of the District must dominate all our activities'.

Mr Dawuda described his election as Presiding Member of the KDA as a call to duty and promised to work to promote unity of the house and development of the District.
