Adaklu-Waya, Oct. 07, GNA - Mr Kwame Agbodza, Member of Parliament (MP) for Adaklu on Tuesday observed that the newly created Adaklu District was on a 'forward march' and could be a model for other assemblies in a few years.

'So far so good in the last two years. Things are working and we will soon be a model for others in a few years,' he stated.

Mr Agbodza made the observation at the inauguration of the second Assembly of the District at Waya.

He noted that the District was fast opening up and would soon be a preferred destination for investors on the completion of its potable water project and construction of a District Hospital.

Mr Agbodza predicted that by the end of 2016, there would be no town in the District without electricity and urged newly elected Assembly members to get to work to achieve the feat.

'All new Assembly members are welcomed... Remove your suits and get to work,' he stated.

Mr Samuel Adusei, Deputy Minister, Water Resources, Works and Housing who inaugurated the Assembly on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama assured that government would continue to provide logistics to the Assembly and said the Adidome Water project would soon be completed to serve Adaklu.

He also reassured that all roads in the District would be tarred soon to give a facelift to the area.

In the President's address, Mr Adusei charged the Assembly Members to maintain close contacts with the people and work for public good and not personal interest.

He tasked the Assembly Members to demand accountability of themselves and management of the Assembly to ensure credibility of the Assembly.

Mr Adusei asked the Assembly to show enthusiasm in fighting environment degradation and sanitation challenges just as they do in putting up classroom blocks, clinics and markets.

He said adequate laws exist to deal with such issues and asked the Assembly to ensure that the right thing was done.

Mr Adusei also charged the Assembly to explore avenues for job creation in the District.

Mr Emmanuel Sky Ganaku, Adaklu District Chief Executive urged the elected Assembly Members to close their ranks and bring their expertise to bear towards increasing the internally generated fund of the Assembly.

Mr Franklin Titus-Glover, a Ho Magistrate swore the newly elected Assembly Members into office.

Reverend Kwame Agbogbo was elected Presiding Member polling 14 votes to unseat Mr Charles Agbesi, immediate past Presiding Member with seven votes.
