He said the initiative would also bring value chains through innovative agribusiness incubation models and would anchor all the gains and investments made within the industry.

According to him the organization is building a global community of smallholder farmers to alleviate the problem of unemployment and create wealth for young graduates.

He added that the initiative would inspire, educate, train, coach and mentor the youth and women to create innovative and sustainable agribusiness ventures.

He said over half of the world’s population survive on less than $2 a day with about 80% of such people living in Africa.

Agriculture, according to him is the backbone of most economies in Africa employing about 70% of the population and has abundant opportunities. The continent also has rich arable land for food production yet many African governments import food to feed their growing population.

He revealed that Agripreneurs Africa is developing innovative programs that combine sustainable, integrated farming systems with natural resource management to produce high value agriculture commodities, ensuring profitable agri-businesses and thus increased household income levels.

He said the Agripreneurs Africa initiative would transform agriculture into a viable business as well as support smallholder farmers to engage in demand driven production using innovative production technologies.
