NDC NDC executives threaten to remove dismissed DCE; Police on standby
JUL 24, 2015 LISTEN

Western Region Police have deployed heavily armed officers to Half Assini district to pre-empt plans by disgruntled NDC executives to forcibly remove the District Chief Executive from office.

The executives are said to be angry that the DCE Sylvester Nuomah Daddieh is still using government vehicles, bungalow and other government properties despite being dismissed by the President.

“A few days ago I had information that some members of the ruling party intend to demonstrate at Jomoro against the DCE that they wanted to forcibly remove him from office because he has been dismissed” ,Regional Police Commander DCOP Alex Felix Quianoo confirmed to Joy News Friday .

He indicated, demonstration could not be the way to enforce a decision taken by the president.

He noted that the party supporters ought to appreciate that the DCE would have to follow a handing-over procedure before vacating his post.

Youths in the area were reportedly jubilant after President Mahama relieved his appointee of his duties. They believed that pressure they brought to bear on government had paid off.

Executives of the Half Assin branch of the NDC in the Jomoro district had been at loggerheads with the DCE since his appointment in 2011.

On April 22, 2015, the NDC supporters clad in red arm and head bands demonstrated against the DCE.

Some placards read “DCE should go, President Mahama, and Jomoro Youth fed up with DCE”.

They prevented the DCE from entering his office until some members of the District Security Council (DSEC) intervened.

The grassroot supporters say Sylvester Nuomah Daddieh has neglected the party since his appointment.

The constituency chairman Mr. Gideon Koniba , accused the DCE of sidelining the party executives and attending programmes without their knowledge and involvement.

He said the DCE was also not funding the party. Sylvester Nuomah Daddieh has denied all these allegations and accused the party of scheming to have him removed without justifiable cause.

Until his appointment, the DCE was in 2011, the Constituency Secretary and district NADMO Coordinator.
