NPP, NDC End Campaign

As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) crowned its campaign at the Winkongo Junior High School park yesterday with a mammoth rally, the party's flagbearer called on the supporters and members to keep spreading the good deeds and the various pro-poor policies the party initiated while in power, to their neighbours.

He said the NPP, while in power under President J A Kufuor, did not limit better livelihood to only a few people close to power, but ensured that the lives of majority of Ghanaians were improved, and stressed the need for the people of Talensi to keep supporting the NPP, vote Thomas Wuni Duanab to parliament and return the party to power in 2016.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, the only way the people of Talensi could honour their paramount chief and former MP, Tongo-Raana Kolbilsong Namalteng, known in private life as Robert Nachinab Mosore, was to replace him in parliament with someone who shares the same development ideology with him and will be ready to continue the projects he initiated while he served in the House.

Robert Nachinab Mosore resigned as MP following his enskinment as paramount chief of the area.

He said Wuni Duanab, the NPP parliamentary candidate is a trustworthy person and has what it takes to attract development projects to the Talensi constituency, even when central government's contribution delays.

Nana Addo said the NDC over the years, had failed to bring significant development projects to the Talensi constituency to commensurate the support the people had given the party over the past 20 years that John Akologo Tia was in parliament.

Former Minister of Trade, Industry and Presidential Special Initiatives, Alan Kyerematen, said the fact that the NDC government had sat back and allowed the Northern Star Tomato Factory at Pwalugu to collapse was an indication that the government does not have their well-being at heart, and should be voted out.

He asked the people of Talensi to always consider their development and vote for a party that shows signs of respect and appreciation for their support and votes.

'The Northern Star Tomato Factory, located at Pwalugu in the Talensi constituency, was one of the interventions that had the capacity to create jobs for hundreds of people in the constituency and make them more supportive to their families. The factory, after it was revamped, had the capacity to process trucks of tomatoes. The NPP government knew the factory was dear to the hearts of many residents and could bring development to the area,' he underscored.

Hundreds of NPP supporters from all over the constituency participated in the rally.

It was attended by almost all the parliamentary candidates of the party in the Upper East Region; and was time for them to try as much as they could to catch the eyes of the 2016 presidential candidate.

Other dignitaries included the vice presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia; First Vice Chairman, Freddie Blay; Yaw Osafo-Maafo, former minister of state; Francis Addai Nimo, MP for Mampong and regional chairmen from Greater Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, Northern, Upper East and Upper West.

NDC Rally
The NDC also had its last rally at Tongo where President John Mahama said it was done deal for 2016.

He told voters to return the seat to the NDC by voting for B.T Baba.

The governing party hoped to snatch the seat from the NPP in Tuesday's poll.

The seat is traditionally that of the NDC's but lost it to the NPP in 2012.
