Talensi by-election: NDC, NPP elect candidates today

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) are electing their parliamentary candidates today for the Talensi by-election.

The by-election is slated for July 7, 2015.
The Talensi seat was declared vacant after the former MP Robert Nachinab Doameng Mosore of the NPP was elevated to the status of a paramount chief of the Tolon tradition area.

Five candidates including the DCE for Talensi are vying for the slot on the NDC side while three are eyeing for the seat from the NPP.

Results for both primaries are expected around 4pm.

According to the EC, it will take nominations for the said by-election on Tuesday, 23rd and Wednesday 24th June 2015, at the district office of the Commission at Tongo from 9.00am to 12.00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Nomination forms may be obtained from the district office of the Commission or at the Regional Office in Bolgatanga.

Candidates for the election shall provide two recent photographs (bust) showing the full face and both ears with red background, on the submission of their nomination forms.

The filing fee for the election is GH¢1000.00.
