The mortal remains of the former District Chief Executive (DCE) of Gomoa East in the Central Region, Isaac Kingsley Ahunu-Armah, was laid to rest over the weekend at Gomoa Fetteh.

The funeral ceremony was attended by district, municipal and metropolitan chief executives (MMDCEs) as well as some regional executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a tribute read on behalf of the MMDCEs, the DCE for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, Peter Light Koomson, expressed concern about the way MMDCEs were being harassed by NDC foot soldiers in the region.

'Everybody knows how hazardous the work of the MMDCEs is, and it is our belief that you were harassed and hunted by a few of our grassroots compatriots into this quagmire and if it were so, then those perpetrators need forgiveness from our Lord. So, kindly intercede for them because as you know, two wrongs do not make a right,' he said in his tribute.

The DCE of Gomoa West, Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, underscored the need for supporters and executives to stop mounting pressures on MMDCEs, adding they were appointed to implement programmes and policies of the party which would serve the interest of all Ghanaians.

The death of Ahunu-Armah brings to two the number of DCEs who have died in the region this year.
