Mziiki, Africa’s fastest-growing digital music platform, has been selected as one of the apps featured by Google on its Google Play stores in East Africa. This represents a strong endorsement of the Mziiki platform since only selected apps pass Google’s stringent quality reviews and achieve a high enough number of downloads to be chosen for this accolade.

“We are proud to receive this recognition from Google for the Mziiki app since it shows that we are on the right track to meet our goal of becoming the best digital platform for African music in our chosen markets,” says Attila Bernariusz, general manager of Mziiki. “We enjoy strong momentum as we continue to grow in East Africa, where the brand is well-established, whilst we implement our plans to expand into new territories in Africa.”

Mziiki is an African-developed streaming app that offers a large library of African and international artists for free streaming to mobile devices. Users are also able to download their favourite African songs through Mziiki or set them as their ringback tone. The platform has a healthy catalogue of international artists, but really differentiates itself with its rich selection of music from African artists exclusively available through Mziiki.

Since early March 2015, Mziiki has been listed as the top free Music & Audio Application in the Google Play stores for Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Zambia. The app has been downloaded more than 200,000 times and has received positive reviews from media and entertainment professionals.

In addition to being nominated as the best app in Africa at Africacom 2014, Mziiki was rated as the fastest-growing African-focused digital music platform in a report from Balancing Act. Mziiki also resonates well with consumers, with an average rating of 4.1 from over 2,800 consumer reviews in Google Play.
