OCT 20, 2014 LISTEN

Lead campaigner for defeated New Patriotic Party's presidential hopeful, Nana Ohene Ntow says he feels disappointed by the pitiable performance of Mr. Alan Kyerematen.

Despite working hard to ensure Mr. Kyerematen gets the media hype as well as market him to the over 140,000 delegates, the former Trade and Industry Minister managed to poll only 5,908 votes representing only 4.75% against the eventual winner, Nana Akufo-Addo who polled 117,413 representing a record 94.35 percent of total votes cast.

Speaking on the Super Morning Show, Monday October 20, 2014 the former General Secretary for the NPP also expressed amazement at the margin with which his candidate lost the contest to the experienced Nana Akufo-Addo.

“If I campaigned for Alan and got this kind of result then, of course, that surprises me…it is a disappointment,” Nana Ohene Ntow told host of the show, Kojo Yankson.

Even though, Ohene Ntow believes the embarrassing defeat is not an end to Mr. Kyerematen's political career, he would prefer the public “give Alan sometime [and] let him respond to those issues”.

According to him, giving the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo is 72 years and still got elected as flagbearer, Mr. Kyerematen still has a lot of time to decide his political future.

“I don't think that that marks the end of Alan's political future,” he added.

Member of Parliament for Tema East constituency of Accra, Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus-Glover who was also on the show was rather appreciative of the delegates for responding to the call of the grassroots to make sure Nana Addo is made flagbearer.

“This victory is for NPP…we want to thank the delegates for the work they have done”.

He added: “All is ready for the ultimate in 2016…mistakes that were done in 2012 are not going to be repeated”.

“We'll make sure come 2016, Nana Akufo-Addo gets the ultimate prize [win the election] to become president of this nation,” the MP declared. Story by Ghana | Myjoyonline.com | Jerry Tsatro Mordy | [email protected]
