The national executives of the NPP have come under intense criticism from the camp of Nana Akufo-Addo, accusing them of selective justice.

The allegation of bias was leveled against the party executives following a press conference held by the presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen on Friday, a day to the party's presidential primary.

The party placed a ban on campaigning yesterday, Thursday, after the three presidential hopefuls drew the curtain on their campaign.

Alan Kyerematen's press conference was a “clear breach” of party's rules on election, the immediate past General Secretary of the party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie told Joy FM's Top Story on Friday.

He claimed the executives, some of whom are alleged to be in bed with Mr. Kyerematen, are deliberately showing the camp of Akufo-Addo “where the power lies”.

Falling short of giving evidence of instances where people in their camp have been sanctioned for breaching the election rules, Owusu Afriyie insisted the executives are skewed in their judgment of who is breaching party rules.

The executives have set" different rules for the candidates", therefore when it comes to Alan's camp they “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil,” Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John, stated.

But the General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Adjei Agyepong has vehemently dismissed the allegation of bias.

He emphatically told Evans Mensah on Top Story, “no rules have been breached”, and would not comment further. But Sir John retorted: “I believe reasonable persons of the party believe that the rules have clearly been breached.”

He also denied claims by Nana Akufo-Addo's camp that the flag-bearer aspirant has given the party GHS600,000 to finance Saturday's election because the party was cash trapped.

“It is not true, no candidate has brought money… We have not received a penny from anybody, not from any presidential aspirant,” he stressed.

He was confident the primary being contested by Nana Akufo-Addo, two-time presidential candidate; Francis Addai Nimo, MP for Mampong; and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, former Minister of Trade and Industries, will be held Saturday October 18, 2014.

He warned members against peddling falsehood and disgracing the party in public.

However, Mr. Owusu Afriyie explained that the money was not paid to the party headquarters but was given to the direct beneficiaries who will be at the polling stations. Story by Ghana | Myjoyonline.com| Isaac Essel | [email protected] | twitter @isaacessel
