President Mahama tours TOBINCO's ultra-modern plant

President John Dramani Mahama Wednesday toured the new ultra-modern factory of the Tobinco Group, Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre.

His visit was a follow up on the disbursement of the Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF) facility by the Ministry of Trade and Industry to support local manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals.

The EDAIF facility was disbursed to Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre in 2014 to support its working capital.

The facility has contributed immensely to the effective running of the factory by helping to purchase a standby 1500 KVA Generator, some raw materials, professional support fees and spare parts of machinery for the plant.

In his welcome speech, the CEO of Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre and Chairman of Tobinco Group, pledged his commitment to help make Ghana the hub for the manufacturing of Pharmaceutical products in Africa.

He revealed that the factory has the capacity to employ directly about 2,000 people.

The President commended the Ministry of Trade and Industry, EDAIF Directors and Entrance Pharmaceuticals and Research Centre's Management for the proper utilization of the disbursed capital.

He added that the Government is committed to ensuring the local Pharmaceutical industry thrives and to enable to companies manufacture quality medicines.

The president toured the state-of-the-art facility and said he was impressed with what he saw.
