The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong over the weekend wept uncontrollably at the funeral of his father, the late Francis Ohene Kofi Agyapong, which was held in the area.

Hon Agyapong wept uncontrollably when he and his siblings were called by a Father of the Roman Catholic Church in Assin Foso to pay their last respects to enable the church convey the body to the cemetery.

The MP, who was overwhelmingly sad because of the death of his father, wept incessantly.

Some sympathizers at the scene led the MP to the house and consoled him, a situation which compelled the others to weep.

The funeral service was attended by thousands of people from all walks of life.

They included aspiring presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo and his wife, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, NPP's National First Vice Chairman, Freddie Blay, former National Chairman of the party, Peter Mac Menu, NDC's Bernard Allotey Jacobs, regional and constituencies executives of the party, former ministers of state and District Chief Executives (DCEs), envoys who served under the previous Kufuor administration, chiefs and pastors and other influential people in society.

Preaching the sermon, Rev Father Emmanuel Quagrine said death become inevitable because of the sins of human beings and therefore charged the congregation to repent. Rev Quagrine called for unity among Ghanaians and further underscored the need for all to love one another.

The children, in a tribute, described their father as a simple, disciplined, respectful, truthful, approachable man, who was helpful to those he came into contact with.

The late Francis Ohene Kofi Agyapong was born on March 5, 1937 to the late

Opanyin Akwasi Agyapong and Obaapanyin Akosua Foriwaa.

He attended Roman Catholic School at Assin Foso and proceeded to teachers training college where he obtained certificate 'B and A' respectively.

The mourners became electrified after Nana Addo arrived at the place, as some supporters of the party put their clothes on the floor for him to walk on them.

Music was played to welcome the guest to the venue.
