13.09.2014 LISTEN

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten has promised to unite the party if elected flagbearer at the party's National Delegates Congress next month.

He has been speaking to delegates at the lunch of his bid to challenge the party's presidential candidate for the 2012 general elections Nana Akuffo-Addo and Mampong MP Francis Adda-Nimoh.

The NPP held a Special Delegates Congress on August 31 to prune the seven flagberer aspirants to five.

Nana Akufo-Addo emerged winner with 598 votes out of the 740 ballot, representing 80.78 percent of the total votes cast.

Alan Kyerematen came in second with 59 votes, while there others - Joe Ghartey, Addai-Nimoh and Osei Amayaw got insignificant figures.

So far Osei Ameyaw and Joe Ghartey have dropped out of the race with Osei Ameyaw giving his full support to Nana Akuffo-Addo.

Even though, Alan Kyerematen has come under intense pressure to withdraw from the flagbearership to allow two-time flagberer Nana Akuffo-Addo to be crowned the party's nominee for the 2016 presidential election, he has maintained he is capable of overcoming the odds and winning the nominatioHoweverMr Kyeremanten explained at the lunch of his campaign that his decision not to step down does not mean he hates Nana Addo but rather he sees him as a big brother.

Mr Kyeremanten explained at the launch of his campaign that his decision not to step down does not mean he hates Nana Akufo-Addo. He said he sees him as a big brother.

He told supporters who converged at Lapaz campaign venue that he will to Nana Addo fully if the 2012 presidential candidate is elected at the October 18 delegates' congress.

According to him, God has given the NPP two keys, the first has been tried but it did not work so it is time to try the second key and that will open the door.

Former Health Minister, Dr Richard Anane who was at the lunch endorsed Alan and asked delegates to vote for him.
