Apraku, Kofi Konadu

DR. Kofi Konadu Apraku was born on September 7, 1954 at Akumadan in the Ashanti Region. He had his secondary education at the Tweneboa Kodua Secondary School between 1967 and 1972 and proceeded to South Albany High School in Oregon, U.S.A. after winning an AFS International essay competition after which he pursed a four-year course at the Oregon State University. He obtained a Masters of Science at the same university, and completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the Ohio State University, specialising in Economic Development. Dr. Apraku is a former Minister of Regional Co-operation and NEPAD, and also Minister of Trade and Industry. He also served as a Member of Parliament for Offinso North Constituency.

Boateng, Stephen Asamoah

Stephen Asamoah Boateng, popularly called “Asabee”, was born on August 18, 1958 and spent his early childhood at Konongo. He attended the Konongo Methodist Primary, Kormantse District Assembly Middle Schools, and Jasikan Roman Catholic Middle, before proceeding to the Konongo/Odumase Secondary School. He obtained his first degree at the University of Ghana, Legon. He holds a master's degree from the Henley Management College, Oxfordshire in the United Kingdom. Mr. Boateng's political activism started at a tender age of 19. Among other positions held, he was an active member of the Ghana Democratic Movement whose membership included Professor Joe de-Graft Johnson, J. H. Mensah, R. O. Frim-pong Bright Oduro Kwarteng and Zaya Yebo. He is a former Member of Parliament for Mfantseman West and Deputy Minister of Information. He also served as Minister of Local Government Rural Development and Environment, Tourism and Diaspora Relations and later as Minister of Information and National Orientation.

Addai-Nimoh, Francis

Francis Addai Nimoh is the member of parliament for the constituency. He was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won a majority of 20,472 votes to become the MP. He succeeded Peter Abum Sarkodie who had represented the constituency in the 4th Republic parliament.

Ameyaw, Kofi Osei

Kofi Osei-Ameyaw was born on February 20, 1960. He is a lawyer by profession. He first entered Parliament on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party in 2004 as a representative of the Asuogyaman constituency. Mr Osei-Ameyaw lost the seat in the 2008 general elections but regained it in the 2012 elections, making him one of the few MPs to chalk this feat. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law from the Macquarie University, Sydney in 1985. He is married with two children.

Kyeremateng, Alan Kwadwo

Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen (popularly called Alan Cash) made an attempt at the leadership of the New Patriotic Party in 2007, capturing 32.3% of votes cast. He was first runner-up to Nana Akufo-Addo who gained 47.96% of votes cast. Mr Kyerematen made a second attempt at the Party's leadership in 2010 and he placed second to Nana Akufo-Addo who won the Primaries.

Mr Kyerematen served as a trade advisor at the UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where he coordinated the African Trade Policy Centre (ATPC). In 2012, Ghana nominated Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen for the post of WTO Director-General to succeed the out-going Director-General, Pascal Lamy and his candidature received the backing of the African Union (AU). However, he did not make the shortlist for the final selection process in 2013.

Akufo-Addo, Nana Addo-Dankwa

Nana Akufo-Addo was born on March 19, 1944 in Swalaba, but raised in Ga Maami and Nima, all in the nation's capital, Accra. He hails from a rich political family. His father Edward Akufo-Addo (the third Chief Justice of Ghana and later ceremonial President of the Second Republic from 1969 to 1972), J.B. Danquah (grand uncle), and William Ofori Atta (uncle) were three of the “Big Six” that were involved in the country's independence struggle. Nana Akufo-Addo received his primary education at the Government Boys School and went to Orielly School and also the Rowe Road School (now Kimbu). He then went to England to study for his O-level and A-level at Lancing College, Sussex. He returned to Ghana in 1967 and read Economics at University of Ghana, Legon, earning a BSc (Econ) degree in 1971. Nana Akufo-Addo was called to the Ghana Bar in July 1975.

Ghartey, Joseph

Joe Ghartey was born on June 15, 1961. He hails from Shama, Western Region of Ghana. Mr. Ghartey had his secondary education at Mfantsipim School, Cape Coast. He obtained his LLB (Hons.) in 1986 from the University of Ghana and BL from the Ghana School of Law in 1988. Joe Ghartey, joined the firm of Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co. He left this firm after seven years and co-founded, Ghartey & Ghartey in 1994. He was the Senior Partner, Ghartey & Ghartey Company (Barristers & Solicitors) before he became an MP. Joe Ghartey also lectured in various fields. He was the adjutant lecturer of Investment law at the University of Ghana Business School. He has also been an adjutant lecturer in Corporate Governance at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)
